Glenworth Valley operates school outdoor education programs for school students including Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions/adventurous journeys, school camps and wilderness expeditions close to Sydney.


Duke of Edinburgh Award Expeditions


Glenworth Valley is the perfect venue for your DOE expedition/adventurous journey developed in conjunction with the school coordinator to ensure that the program delivers the desired outcomes for all participants. Our location provides participants with the opportunity to learn a new skill and to grow and meet their full potential through outdoor education and we have worked with many of Sydney, Central Coast and Newcastle’s leading schools on successful Duke of Edinburgh Award Expeditions.


Glenworth Valley offers the following activities for the adventurous journey component of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. You can combine any of these activities to suit your requirements (please note that some combinations are not possible and you are welcome to contact the Glenworth Valley office to discuss). The prices below are per person and per day rate.

Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Training Days


Glenworth Valley offers training days for Bronze Duke of Edinburgh participants.


Bronze level participants are required to undertake training, where they will learn to plan and complete an entire journey on their own. These training sessions can be held on site at Glenworth Valley as part of your practice journey or at another suitable location on request such as your school.


The 2 to 3 hour training session covers an instructor and a preliminary training workbook which outlines activities for the students to complete prior to their expedition. We cover the following information to prepare students for their journey;

  • Safety and safe practice
  • Route planning & navigation
  • Campcraft & accommodation
  • Environmental care
  • Team building & leadership
  • Equipment


Guide Accreditation


Our camp guides and instructors are qualified in outdoor recreation or an industry equivalent and have extensive experience in working with school students. All staff have Working With Children clearance through the NSW Commission for Children and Young People.

School Camps


Glenworth Valley is a popular location for schools to host outdoor education programs and camps. We host multi-activity camps with a variety of the activities available at Glenworth Valley including horse riding, camping, kayaking, quad biking, abseiling, mud run, laser skirmish, orienteering, bush walking and hiking.


We also offer on-site camping and can arrange tents and all camping equipment hire for overnight school camps.


We can organise individual itineraries to include educational lectures, demonstrations and audience participation activities on horse management.


We also work closely with a number of specialist outdoor education organisations to provide supervised programmes. Scout and Girl Guide groups also regularly use Glenworth Valley for their jamborees.
