Glenworth Valley’s kids horse riding camps are the best way to get young horse riders in the saddle this school holidays. They’ll have an unforgettable time being active as they ride in the great outdoors – all while learning new skills and meeting new friends!

With a variety of half day, full day and overnight camps catering from complete beginner to advanced pony club riders, there’s something for every young rider to enjoy.

Kids will learn new skills and meet new friends all whilst under the supervision of our experienced horse riding instructors.

  • Half-Day Junior Beginner Camp (5-7 years)
    • For riders with limited riding experience
    • Students will learn the basics on how to lead, brush and mount, receive a lunge lesson and a lesson in the basics of horse riding, including walking and trotting.
    • Morning session 8:15am – 12pm OR Afternoon session 12:45pm – 4:15pm
    • From $120pp*
  • Beginner Level 1 Camp (7-16 years)
    • For first time riders or with very minimal riding experience
    • Students will learn the basics on how to lead, tie up, brush and mount.
    • Students will receive an assessment lesson followed by a 2 hour riding lesson from our experienced instructors who will teach ground control, walking and trotting. Students will then have the opportunity to practice what they have learnt on a 2 hour scenic guided trail ride through the valley.
    • 8:30am – 4:15pm

  • Beginner Level 2 Camp (7-16 years)
    • For riders who can walk and steer the horse without holding onto the saddle and rise to the trot whilst holding onto the saddle
    • Students will learn the basics on how to lead, tie up, brush and mount.
    • Students will receive an assessment lesson followed by a 2 hour riding lesson from our experienced instructors who will teach ground control, walking and trotting. Students will then have the opportunity to practice what they have learnt on a 2 hour scenic guided trail ride through the valley.
    • 8:30am – 4:15pm

  • Intermediate Level 1 Camp (7-16 years)
    • For riders who can walk, trot and steer their horse without holding onto the saddle and can canter whilst holding onto the saddle
    • Students will be given 2 x 2 hour riding lessons building on the skills they have learnt in previous camps or lessons. Depending on the ability and interests of students, this may include an introduction to jumping or other skills. The day also includes horsemanship skills and a 2 hour scenic guided trail ride through the valley.
    • 8:30am – 4:15pm
    • From $175pp*
  • Intermediate Level 2/Advanced Camp (7-16 years)
    • For riders who can trot, steer and canter their horse without holding onto the saddle, we also recommend that the child has also attempted jumping
    • Students will be given 2 x 2 hour riding lessons building on the skills they have learnt in previous camps or lessons. Depending on the ability and interests of students, this may include an introduction to jumping or other skills. The day also includes horsemanship skills and a 2 hour scenic guided trail ride through the valley.
    • 8:30am – 4:15pm
    • From $175pp*
  • 3 day overnight camp (9-16 years)
    • Campers will be accommodated over two nights in either our Valley Events Centre or Camping in our Deluxe 4 person Blackwolf tents.
    • Fun games and activities around the camp fire each night.
    • Enjoy fun activities on horseback and meet new friends that share the same love of horses
    • Camps are led by our experienced and knowledgeable instructors
    • Activities include lessons (jumping and dressage), games, trail rides, a cattle drive and a trip to meet some adorable foals
    • A Gymkhana on the final day with ribbons to win
    • All meals provided and more dietary requirements can be accommodated
    • Suitable for children aged 9-16 years of age who have completed at minimum a Intermediate Level 1 camp at Glenworth Valley.
    • Intermediate to Advanced Group: Suitable for children who can walk, trot, canter and steer their horse without holding on to the saddle and should have already attempted jumping.

Helmets are compulsory for all riders. Helmets can be hired for an additional $7 fee.

Have Your Own Certified Helmet? Present your current Australian Standards approved (AS/NZ 3838) or recognised equivalent horse riding helmet for inspection on the day of your activity. Non expired, AS/NZ certification label must be visible to receive a refund of your helmet hire fee.

Bring own food and drinks

We recommend wearing full length pants. Jodhpurs, moleskins or jeans are ideal.

Sunscreen, a sun hat, suitable sun wise riding attire (such as a long sleeve shirt), waterproof rain jacket and a warm jumper for the day. Swimmers and a towel are recommended in summer.

Fully enclosed footwear such as riding boots or shoes with a flat sole and small heel is best. Riding boots are available to hire or you can wear sneakers however they are not recommended. Sandals, thongs or large bulky shoes with a heavy tread are not permitted.

For safety reasons backpacks, handbags etc are not to be worn whilst riding.

For safety and animal welfare, there is a maximum weight limit of 85kg

Please be aware that our maximum weight limit may be lower than 85kg and is subject to variation according to what horses are available for riding on the day of your visit.

We are unable to guarantee that a suitable horse will be available on the day of your visit however every effort will be made to provide you with a suitable horse.

In addition to a rider’s weight, we do also take into account a rider’s height to weight ratio, riding experience, general muscle tone and fitness when assessing whether we have a suitable horse available.
