Horses – as opposed to ponies – have extremely calm temperaments, making them ideal for kids. As such, it is mostly horses which are used for kids rides at Glenworth Valley. Only the most dependable horses who have a long history of being ridden by young children are hand selected to make the safest experience possible.

As a self-guided tour, parents or guardians are required to lead the horse for the duration of the experience.
For children aged 3 & 4 years, two adults are required per horse (one adult to lead the horse while the other closely supervises). For older Children aged 5-12 years, one adult is required.
Glenworth Valley does not provide tour guides or supervision. Enclosed shoes are required for both the adult and child.

Type: Self-guided. Two Adults are required per horse/pony for Children aged 3 & 4 years (one to secure the Child, the other to lead the horse). One Adult is required to lead each horse for Children aged 5-12 years.
Price: From $45-$75. Save with off-peak pricing.
Includes: Pony/Horse. Multiple riders can share a horse between them (one rider at a time) in 15 minute intervals. Up to 4 Children can share a horse per hour or 2 Children can share a horse per 30 mins.
Excludes: Tour Guide/Supervision
Extras: Helmets are compulsory for all riders. Helmets can be hired for an additional $7.50 fee. Wet weather poncho.

Have Your Own Certified Helmet in line with current Equestrian Australia Standards and within 5 years of the manufacture date? Present it for inspection on the day of your activity. A non expired certification label must be visible to receive a refund of your helmet hire fee.
We recommend wearing full-length pants. Jodhpurs or jeans are ideal.
Fully enclosed footwear such as riding boots, sneakers or shoes with a flat sole is best. A limited amount of riding boots are available to hire. Sandals, thongs, steel caps or large bulky shoes with a heavy tread are not permitted.
For safety reasons backpacks, handbags etc are not to be worn whilst riding.
Remember to bring sunscreen, insect repellent and a brimmed hat.
2 adults required for children aged 3 & 4 years. 1 adult required for children aged 5-12 years per lead pony.
Free-range horse riding may be available for experienced riders who have ridden at least 50 times previously. Your safety is paramount and the final decision on a rider’s capability is at the discretion of the guide.
Please make a note in the comments of your online booking that you would like to be assessed for free-range riding.

And watch up to 250 resident horses run through Glenworth Valley in a crescendo of hooves and energy.
